About Us - And About Lighthouse Yarns.

We have only just taken on the Simply Wool name but have been selling wool through shops, both virtual and concrete, since the eighties. Prior to this came many years of knitting and designing from which we hopefully learned something about the requirements and aspirations of our potential customers.

In January 2008 we moved to our own 44 acre farm in Orkney and commenced stocking it with assorted wooly creatures in readiness for a breeding programme and for the harvesting of our own home-produced fibre. The resulting homespun yarns, both dyed and undyed, will be sold as Lighthouse Yarns, named after the farm where the entire business of production, processing and marketing takes place. The Lighthouse Yarns range is available only from Simply Wool.
